Thanks to Florian, I can now share with you more detailed sales figures for Germany from 1948 onwards! The first period I have updated goes from 1948 (when 26,800 cars were sold in the country) to 1961 (up to 1,095,128).

The VW Beetle had its best-ever year in Germany in 1961 with 348,929 sales

Witness the constant domination of the VW Beetle, passing the 100,000 yearly sales in 1954 and the 200,000 units in 1959 to reach what would remain its record year in 1961 at 348,929 sales!

The Opel Rekord is the 2nd model to sell over 100,000 units in Germany after the Beetle
