The Russian car market is far from weakening its growth: up another 32% in August at 224,764 registrations and 48% year-to-date at 1,685,730 units. The Lada Priora climbs back into pole position for the third time in the last 4 months with 13,870 sales and 6.2%, its best volume in the country since April 2010 and its best market share since October 2010.
In 2nd place the Lada Kalina is still extremely solid at 12,240 units and 5.4% and stays leader year-to-date with 97,656 sales (5.8%) vs. 94,290 (5.6%) for the Priora. For the 2nd time in 3 months the Lada Samara lands on the podium in August at 11,117 units and 4.9%, its best share since July 2010. The Lada 2104-2107 falls by 50% year-on-year at #4 and 3.6%.
The Hyundai Solaris is the best-selling ‘foreign’ model – albeit produced locally – for the 5th consecutive month but sees its share drop to 3.4%. Below the Renault Logan, a bit shy at 2.8%, the Lada 4×4 (aka Niva) hits its best position since February at #7 with 2.6% share. The VW Polo stays in the Top 10.
