Italy: 1986-2010 Historical Data now available
I have now uploaded Historical Data for Italy for the last 25 years… And from June 2002 onwards you can even check out each month’s Top 10 or Top 30 ranking – that’s 107 consecutive months!
As you will see there are still quite a lot of holes in the data, so if you have any more detail, or if you have any information at all dating back to before 1986, please do get in touch!
Witness the domination of the Fiat Uno, reaching 24% share in the mid-80’s and #1 for a decade up until the arrival of the Fiat Punto in 1993. Starting just under 20% share, four generations of the model, including the Grande Punto launched in 2005, helped keep the Punto nameplate on top of Italian sales for 17 consecutive years! However the Fiat Panda, relaunched in 2003, has been gearing up all through its career to reach 8% share in 2009, challenging the Punto leadership.
See how Fiat tried to fill the micro-car niche with the Cinquecento, #2 in 1995 and the Seicento, #2 in 2000, before hitting gold with the 500, #3 in 2008. See Fiat’s compact car go weaker, with the Tipo hitting 12% share in 1988, the Bravo/a reaching 8.5% in 1996, the Stilo at 4% in 2002 and the new Bravo under 3% in 2008…
