Netherlands October 2010: Polo takes the lead
The Dutch car market is growing fast in 2010: +23% vs. 09 in October (43,920 registrations) and +24% vs. 09 over 10 months (434,604 registrations).
The VW Polo leads in the Netherlands: thanks to a phenomenal month of October at 2,751 sales and 6.3% market share, the Polo now tops the year-to-date ranking with 16,310 sales and 3.8%, passing the Peugeot 107.
One of the particularities of the Dutch market is the flat-out success of the “Kolin sisters”: the badge engineered Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo. Virtually the same car with different badges, produced in Kolin in Czech Republic. All 3 models are hits in the Netherlands: the Peugeot 107 is #2 year-to-date with 15,886 sales (3.7%), the Toyota Aygo is #3 at 14,154 sales (3.3%) and the Citroen C1 is #5 at 10,477 sales (2.4%). All in all, the Kolin sisters amount to a staggering 40,517 registrations over 10 months, or 9.3% of the Dutch market!
