Europe October 2010: Golf & Polo back on top, Megane #6

Steep 16% decline this month for the European car market with again all its powerhouse countries (Germany, France, Italy, UK and Spain) showing sharp drops.

After a month of September artificially biased towards UK-strong cars, most models come back to their YTD market share levels. The VW Golf is back to 3.6%, the Polo climbs back to #2 at 2.8% and is still the only Top 10 car to progress vs. Oct 09 (+13%). All other Top 10 models see their sales drop faster than the market. The Polo will however stay #3 in 2010 as the Ford Fiesta is too far ahead in #2 with 351,177 sales YTD.

The Renault Clio is back in 4th at 2.5%, and the Renault Megane goes up 3 spots in 6th to deliver its 2nd best 2010 performance after a 5th place and 2.2% in July.
