Finland 2008-2009: VW Golf takes command

After growing 11% in 2008 at 139,647 registrations, the Finnish car market crumbles down 35% in 2009 at 90,547 units. Both years the VW Golf is the best selling car in the country, putting an end to at least one decade of Toyota Corolla domination, with 6,411 sales in 2008 (4.6%) and 5,190 in 2009 (5.7%).
The Kia Cee’d, for its first full year of sales, climbs to #4 in 2008 (3.7%) but drops to #8 in 2009 (-59%). The Skoda Octavia (#2 in 2008, #3 in 2009) and Toyota Corolla (#3 in 2008, #4 in 2009), are both passed by the renewed Toyota Avensis in 2009 delivering 4,994 sales and 5.5% share for an excellent 2nd place. The Nissan Qashqai is up 7 spots in 2009 at #7.
