Belgium 2009: Ford Fiesta and VW Golf pass Peugeot 207

The Belgian car market suffers from the GFC in 2009, down 12% at 476,194 registrations. The market fragments further, with all models under 3% share, making Belgium the most fragmented market in the world with Switzerland! Boosted like a rocket by the new generation, the Ford Fiesta jumps a huge 14 spots and 71% on 2008 to land in pole position in Belgium for the first time in the nameplate’s 30+ years career with 13,728 sales and 2.9% share. The VW Golf is down 11% to 12,190 sales and 2.6%.
The Peugeot 207 is relegated in 3rd place at 2.5%, then no less than 11 cars fit within 1,400 sales (0.3%), from the VW Polo at #4 and 10,527 sales to the Renault Megane at #14 with 9,142 sales. The Citroen Berlingo shines at #8 with 9,926 sales, up 8 spots and 30% on 2008, while the Citroen C3 is up 3 spots and 1% to #9. The Peugeot Partner (#16) and Audi A3 (#19) appear in the Top 20.
