For its first full year of sales, the Peugeot 207 brilliantly takes the lead of Dutch car sales in 2007 with 15,537 units and 3.1% share, staying on top in 2008 at 14,778 units and 3%.
The Opel Corsa climbs to the 2nd spot in 2007 at 14,582 sales (+65%) and stays there in 2008 at 14,021 units. Fifth in 2007 and 3rd in 2008 (+37%), the VW Golf slowly wakes up from a Golf Plus-induced coma. Exceptional progression of the Toyota Aygo, #10 in 2007 (+31%) and #4 in 2008 (+38%), reaching levels no other Japanese model had ever attained before in the Netherlands.
The Opel Astra drops to #3 in 2007 (2.4%) and #9 in 2008 (1.8%), its lowest position ever in the country. The Ford Focus is very stable through the period at 2.4% share and in 2008 the Peugeot 308 is up to #6 at 10,074 sales and 2%, the Ford Mondeo up 87% to #7 and the Renault Twingo up 208% to #8. The Hyundai i10 lands directly at #14, the highest year-end rank for a Korean model in the Netherlands.
