France 2002: Clio edges 206 out, 307 above 7%

In a market down 5% at 2,145,073 units, the Renault Clio, helped by its recent design refresh, is stable at 188,210 sales (8.8%) and climbs back into the first spot, ahead of the Peugeot 206, 2nd with 181,929 sales and 8.5%. This year’s best performance goes to the Peugeot 307, ranked 3rd for its first full year with an impressive 155,000 sales and 7.2% of the French market.
The Renault Laguna and Scenic follow just under 100,000 sales, and the Renault Megane regains a spot in the Top10 thanks to the new version launched in September. The VW Golf is still the best selling foreign model at #10 (2.6%), ahead of the Opel Zafira reaching its best-ever annual ranking in France at #15 (1.9%), the VW Polo at #16, Opel Corsa at #17, Fiat Punto at #18, Ford Focus at #19 and Ford Fiesta at #20.
