Hungary 1996: Opel, Suzuki and Daewoo on top

Daewoo is the #3 brand in Hungary in 1996

New car sales in Hungary rebound back up 9.5% in 1996 to 74.328 units. Opel signs a third consecutive year in pole position, outpacing the market at +14% to reach 21% share. Suzuki performs similarly at +15% to 18.9% but Daewoo is the star of the year with a 41% surge leading to its first annual podium ranking in the country for only its second year in market. Volkswagen (+6%) is back up to #4 above Ford (+15%) and Renault (-7%) while Peugeot (+140%), Skoda (+75%) and Fiat (+32%) post the largest year-on-year gains in the Top 10 but Lada tumbles down 67% to #8. Nissan (+378%), Citroen (+108%), Chrysler (+88%), Volvo (+80%), Honda (+79%), Toyota (+49%), Mitsubishi (+37%) and BMW (+33%) also shine. The brands list goes from 27 to 34 with the arrival of Alfa Romeo, Rover, Ssangyong, Land Rover, Lancia, Maserati and Daihatsu.
