75.429 new light vehicles found a buyer in Hungary in 1993. A remnant of the USSR rule, Lada remains the most popular carmaker in the country in 1993 with a hefty 22.1% market share , but its advantage over #2 Opel at 21.9% has slimmed to just 163 units. In fact, 1993 is the last year Lada managed to hold onto the brand title. Magyar Suzuki didn’t waste any time after the fall of the iron curtain and established a new plant in Esztergom in 1991. As a result, Suzuki is already the #3 brand in the country in 1993 with a very satisfying 17.1% share. These three manufacturers are the only ones selling over 5.000 units and holding over 6.5% of the market this year. Volkswagen (6.2%) and Ford (4.9%) round up the Top 5.
