Mexico 1992: Nissan Tsuru beats VW Beetle to #1
The Nissan Tsuru/Sentra overtakes the VW Beetle to become Mexico’s #1.
The Mexican new light vehicle market gains a round 10% in 1992 to 635.738 units, but remains extremely stable as far as the brands ranking is concerned with the Top 10 unchanged. Volkswagen (-3.1%) sees its share drop to 24.5% whereas Nissan (+21.8%) doubles the market growth to get closer at 24%. Dodge (+11.4%) is up to 18.4% but Ford (-0.2%) drops to 12.1%. Jeep (+303.1%), Mercury (+42.6%), Chrysler (+38.6%) and Chevrolet (+20.4%) also shine. The Nissan Tsuru (+23.3%) overtakes the VW Beetle (-0.4%) to tp the models charts with the Ford F-Series (+40.5%) in tow like last year. The Chevrolet Cavalier (+40%), Dodge Spirit (+29.9%), Shadow (+26%), VW Jetta (+21.9%) and Mercury Topaz (+18.2%) also impress in the Top 10.
