Jordan Full Year 2017: Kia Frontier takes control at 14.5% share

After being in negative for most of the year, the Jordanian new car market finally edges up 0.6% year-on-year in 2017 to 45.184 registrations. Big change in the brands ranking: both Hyundai (+5%) and Kia (+30%) overtake 2016 leader Toyota (-28%) and the two Korean sister brands end the year only 96 sales away from each other and the only ones above 10.000 units. Below, Mitsubishi (+18%), Nissan (-7%), Isuzu (-7%) and Chevrolet (+4%) hold onto their ranking as does Lexus even though the Japanese premium brand surges 5% on 2016. Land Rover (+324%) posts by far the largest gain in the Top 15, with Honda (+62%), Volkswagen (+42%), GMC (+40%), BMW (+13%) and Suzuki (+12%) also shine.

The Hyundai Sonata shoots up 4-fold to #3 overall in 2017.

Model-wise, the Nissan Frontier (+73%) takes control, seeing its share bump up to 14.5% and passing the Toyota Land Cruiser (-34%) while the Hyundai Sonata is up 4-fold and 11 spots to leap to #3 overall. The Hyundai Elantra (-25%) is down two ranks to #4, the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup is up 103% and 8 spots to #5 ahead of the Mitsubishi Lancer EX (+22%), Hyundai Tucson (-10%) and Kia Sorento (+24%). The Hyundai Ioniq ends its first full year of sales at #9, and the Kia Niro and Nissan Kicks co-lead all 2017 launches at equal #40.
