Nothing can stop the Mexican new car market: up another 22.5% year-on-year in November to 154.627 units, the highest November volume on record and the 2nd highest monthly result ever, below just December 2015 (160.675). This is the 31st consecutive month of year-on-year gains in Mexico as well as the 23rd straight monthly record and 16th month in a row above 100.000 units. But the most impressive record beaten this month is the Mexican annual volume after just 11 months: at +18.5% on the same period a year ago, 2016 sales reach 1.411.199 units, eclipsing the record of 1.351.764 deliveries established in 2015.

Nissan continues its race at the top, outpacing the market at +28% to reach 24.7% share, but Chevrolet is catching up at +40% to a round 20% share, two percentage points above its year-to-date level. Below, Volkswagen (+8%), Toyota (+16%), Honda (+11%) and Ford (+17%) are all up but lose market share compared to a year ago. Kia (+143%) remains in a stunning 7th place but may have reached its cruising speed, down from 6.011 sales in October to 5.460 this month, its first drop after 15 months of uninterrupted growth since its launch in the country in July 2015. GMC (+36%), Hyundai (+38%), Mercedes (+39%), Buick (+59%), Porsche (+59%) and Smart (up 89-fold!) also impress in November.

Model-wise, the Chevrolet Aveo is back to pole position for the second time in the past three months thanks to sales up 35% to 11.272 and 7.3% share and now in positive territory year-to-date at 66.891 (+1%). This is still way below the Nissan Versa, market leader at 79.296 (+41%) and up 42% in November at 9.487 units. The Nissan Pickup (+34%), Chevrolet Spark (+142%) and VW Vento (+44%) complete the Top 5 and all outpace the market. Nissan places six models inside the Top 11, adding the March (+38%), Sentra (+39%), Tsuru (-0.1%) and X-Trail (+60%). Notice also the Chevrolet Sonic up 38% to #8, the Ford Figo up 94% to #12 and the Nissan Kicks up 18 spots on October to break into the Top 20 at #19.
