Pakistan October 2016: Honda gains 60%, market down 19%

The Honda Civic ranks third in Pakistan this month.

Pakistani sales data is traditionally restricted to sales of locally-assembled models, a  pretty accurate picture of the new vehicle market in the country given import taxes are too high to allow imports in any significant numbers. The Pakistani market continues to slide down in October with sales down 19% to 15.988 units, pulling the year-to-date tally down 10% to 168.481. Market leaders Suzuki (-27%) and Toyota (-26%) fall faster than the market but Honda surges 60% thanks to the arrival of the new generation Civic, estimated to be up 266% on the previous model in October 2015 to land at a stunning third position. The Toyota Corolla remains the most popular nameplate in the country, following the market at -20% while in 2nd place the Suzuki Mehran is down just 8%. Notice also the Suzuki Wagon R up 87% and the Suzuki Swift up 5%.
