New car sales in Slovenia are down 1% year-on-year in August to 3.942 units, but the year-to-date tally is still up by 7.5% to 43.984. Volkswagen remains the most popular carmaker in the country despite a 5% drop to 15% share, distancing Renault down 21%, Skoda up 5% and Opel up 14%. Below in the Top 10, Ford (-27%) and Hyundai (-30%) particularly suffer but Citroen (+27%), Kia (+48%) and BMW (+56%) shine. Further down, Volvo (+36%), Mazda (+39%), Mercedes (+42%), Mini (+141%) and Jeep (+153%) make themselves noticed. Model-wise, the Renault Captur is #1 for the first time thanks to 193 sales, making Slovenia the second country in the world where it ranked #1 after Bulgaria (May and June 2015). It is followed by the VW Golf (150) and Skoda Octavia (110). The Kia Ceed (#4), VW Tiguan (#5), Hyundai Tucson (#7) and Nissan Qashqai (#8) all punch way above their respective YTD levels.
