The Thai new light vehicle market is finally showing tangible recovery signs, with November 2015 ending a devastating 29 consecutive months of year-on-year declines: up 5% on November 2014 to 76.426 registrations. The year-to-date total now stands at 698.168 units, still down a harsh 12% on the same period in 2014. Market leaders Toyota (-15%) and Isuzu (-4%) actually lose ground to 32.2% and 15.2% share respectively while Honda outpaces the market at +7% to 13.5%. The main event this month in Thailand is the outstanding score of the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport up 7-fold on the previous model to shoot up to an extremely impressive third place overall with 5.318 sales, below just the Toyota Hilux (surprisingly down 21% despite the new generation) and the Isuzu D-Max. The Pajero Sport single-handedly lifts Mitsubishi sales up 67% to 11.4% share vs. 7.2% year-to-date.

The Pajero Sport is therefore above its archenemy the Toyota Fortuner even though the latter breaks its monthly volume record at 4.910 (+154%). The Pajero Sport is the only passenger car so far in 2015 to have managed over 5.000 monthly sales. The Toyota Yaris (-36%), Vios (-28%) and Honda City (-14%) struggle, the Ford Ranger (+55%) enjoys its new generation, the Honda HR-V (#9) stays inside the Top 10 and Chinese carmaker MG crosses the 500 monthly units for the first time thanks to the arrival of the MG 5 (31 sales).
