After FY 2014 and June 2015, here is the third Malaysian models update after over 3 years of silence, covering the First Half of 2015 with even more data this time and a Top 220 models. Coup d’état atop the charts: the all-new Perodua Axia not only brilliantly replace the outgoing Viva but snaps the pole position away from the MyVi, and with a tremendous margin at 15.5% share vs. 8.3% for the MyVi. In fact, Perodua manages the incredible feat to place its entire 2015 range on the podium over the period, with the Alza MPV at #3 and 7.9% share. As we have seen in the June ranking, the #2 to #4 position are still in transition with the MyVi likely to fall further down over the coming month, resulting in the Proton Saga – down to #4 over H1 2015 – and Perodua Alza battling for the 2nd spot miles below the Axia.

The foreign models ranking gets a shake down as well: boosted by the very successful 2014 model, the Honda City reclaims the title of best-selling foreigner off the Toyota Vios by ranking 5th overall with 6.4% share (vs. 6.1% over the FY 2014) while the Vios tumbles down from 7% to 5.4% and the Nissan Almera gains two spots thanks to a stable share at 4.1%. The Proton Iriz, the other big Malaysian news in 2014 along with the Perodua Axia, is slowly finding its place under the sun at #9 and 2.4% share so far this year. The Honda HR-V is received with the same warm welcome everywhere in the ASEAN region: it lands at an outstanding #12 in Malaysia. Finally, we now have access to luxury brand data with the BMW 3 Series leading the pack (#30) above the Mercedes E-Class (#33), BMW 5 Series (#41) and Mercedes C-Class 9#43).
