According to the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP), sales of new vehicles are down 8% year-on-year in 2014 to 183,913 registrations, split between 86.139 passenger cars, 36.494 SUVs, 21.275 pickups and vans and 16.079 trucks. However, AAP president Edwin Derteano is optimistic for 2015 as stimulus packages arranged by the Government should help the market grow by 12-13%. Toyota maintains its leadership of the Peruvian market by far with 18.9% share above Hyundai and Kia while the Toyota Yaris remains the best-selling nameplate in the country above the Hilux and Kia Rio.
