Encouraging results for new car sales in New Caledonia, a French overseas territory located North-East of Australia: up year-on-year for the 2nd consecutive month at +11% to 841 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 6,712 units, down 3% on 2013. New Caledonia has this particularity that it doesn’t favour local manufacturers like in Metropolitan France: Ford is the most popular carmaker with a strong 14.9% share ahead of Toyota (8.2%) and Hyundai (7.7%), with Peugeot (#4) leading the French charge above Citroen (#5) and Renault (#9). Model-wise, below the traditional leader the Ford Ranger (9.5%), the Dacia Duster overtakes the Toyota Hilux to rank #2, the Ford Fiesta is up 4 spots on July to #4, the Mazda BT-50 and Chevrolet Cruze both up 5 to #8 and #9 respectively, the Dacia Logan up to #23, Great Wall Voleex C20R up 8 to #26 and the Nissan Patrol up to #28 vs. #74 year-to-date. Finally let’s salute the thunderous arrival of the Citroen C4 Cactus directly at a world-best #12 with 1.9% market share which is significantly higher than in France already…
