Czech Republic July 2014: 6 Skodas in Top 8, Yeti shoots up

New car sales in Czech Republic are up a great 22% year-on-year in July to 17,700 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 111,758 units, up 17% on 2013. Brand-wise, Skoda accounts for 3 out every 10 new cars sold in the country at 31.1% share this month, while Hyundai overtakes Volkswagen to snap up the 2nd spot thanks to 1,826 sales and 10.3% vs. 1,808 and 10.2%. Ford and Dacia round up the Top 5, with Opel particularly strong in July at #6. In the models sales charts, below the Skoda Octavia sovereign at 9.1% share, the Skoda Rapid reclaims the #2 spot it holds year-to-date off the Fabia at 6.3% vs. 5.6%, and the Hyundai i30 passes the VW Golf to become the best-selling foreigner. In fact, local manufacturer Skoda places 6 models inside the Top 8 this month, with the Yeti now benefiting fully from its facelift, up to 6th place with 3% share vs. #9 and 2.1% year-to-date. The Citigo also shines: up 6 ranks to #8, while the Seat Leon lodges a third consecutive month inside the Czech Top 10 at #9, also the third time it ever ranks among the country’s 10 best-seller, and the Dacia Duster is up 11 ranks to #10.
