As is now the (new) tradition on BSCB, after going through detailed monthly figures for March we explore the year-to-date rankings in Europe to try and extract longer-term trends. Over the First Quarter of 2014, new car sales in Europe are up an extremely encouraging 8% on 2013 to 3,353,180 sales, which means 2014 looks like it will be the first year of growth on the continent since 2007! The VW Golf and Ford Fiesta lead the ranking as they were over the Full Year 2013 and they also deliver the highest gains in the Top 8 at +16% and +10% respectively. The Skoda Octavia goes from #6 after two months to #9 now but is still going (very) strong at +38% with the Audi A3 rounding up the Top 10 for the first time in a Quarterly ranking thanks to sales up a mammoth 52% year-on-year.
