Israel April 2014: Toyota Corolla and Kia Picanto reign

The Israeli new car market is up 6% year-on-year in April to 18,332 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 90,724 units, up a fantastic 22% on 2013. In the brands ranking, Toyota manages to outsell Hyundai by a pretty impressive margin at 2,406 units and 13.1% vs. 2,054 and 11.2% and 1,862 and 10.2% for Kia. Year-to-date, Hyundai is still leader however with 11,311 sales and 12.5% vs. 10,480 and 11.6% for Toyota and 8,913 and 9.8% for Kia. More than half of Toyota sales this month are for the Corolla, in the models sales charts pole position for an astonishing 9th consecutive month thanks to 1,250 units and 6.8% share.

In fact the models ranking is back to an ounce of stability this month: the Kia Picanto stays 2nd both in April (5.2% share) and year-to-date (4.3%) while the Ford Focus confirms it is back in the battle with a 2nd consecutive #3 ranking. The Suzuki SX4 and Mazda3 exchange their position to #4 and #5 respectively, the Nissan Micra is up 6 spots on last month to #6, the Mitsubishi Space Star up 7 to #7, Hyundai i35 back up 36 ranks to #8 and the Mitsubishi Outlander is up 11 to #13. Notice also the Citroen C-Elysée up a huge 58 ranks to #21, the Chevrolet Malibu up 99 to #39, the VW Up up 109 to #102 for its 2nd appearance in Israel and the Opel Adam landing at #183.
