South Korea March 2014: Hyundai Porter now #1 year-to-date

Sales of local models in South Korea are up 3% year-on-year in March to 121,416 registrations, bringing the first Quarter total to 334,758 units, up 4% on 2013. Whereas it had never held that spot before last June, the Hyundai Porter creates the surprise once again in South Korea this month by ranking #1 for the 5th time in the last 10 months and beating all Passenger Cars with 9,488 sales and 7.8% share, even earning the pole position over the first Quarter at 24,515 units and 7.3%.
Further down, the Kia Morning (7.6%), Hyundai Grandeur (6.6%) and Santa Fe (6.4%) follow while the Hyundai Grand Starex is up 5 spots on February to #8 and the Samsung QM3 (aka Renault Captur) back on track at #36 with 695 sales. Brand-wise, Hyundai holds 47.6% of the market ahead of Kia at 32.1%, GM Korea (Chevrolet) at 10.8%, SsangYong at 4.8% and Renault Samsung at 4.6%, keeping in mind that as usual this data does not include imports.
