Thanks to my dear Mum and Dad who are travelling in the region and managed to get their hands on Peruvian car magazine Automas, I can share with you sales data for this market that had not seen such detail in almost a decade on BSCB! And the first observation is that the Peruvian new car market is absolutely and definitely booming, lodging a 4th consecutive all-time record year and first time above 200,000 annual registrations at 201,326 units, up 6% on 2012 (including heavy commercial vehicles). Brand-wise, Toyota is king of the Peruvian roads with sales up 15% to 38,045 units for a 18.9% share, above Hyundai at 13.4% and Kia up 19% to 10.9% share. Notice JAC up 80% to #10, Mazda up 68% to #11, Ford up a huge 90% to #13 and Lifan up 73% to #22.
The Hyundai Eon is among the 20 most popular vehicles in Peru this year.
Thanks to the new generation launched during the year, the Toyota Yaris reclaims the overall pole position (it was #2 after 9 months) with 12,419 sales and 6.2%, passing the Toyota Hilux at 11,821 units and 5.9%. The Chevrolet Sail delivers an impressive 22% gain this year to rank #3 with 6,072 sales and 3%, just above the Kia Picanto and Rio while the Hyundai Accent is up 17% to #6. Notice also the Toyota RAV4 up 49% to #11, the Hyundai Eon at #18, Renault Duster at 1,250 sales, the Chery Tiggo at 756, Great Wall Haval H3 at 731 and Wingle at 628.
