Spain December 2013: Dacia Sandero leads for third time this year

The eye of the storm has passed for Spanish new car sales, up a nice 18% year-on-year in December to 60,661 registrations, meaning the final 2013 total is up 3% on 2012 to 723,936 units. Whereas it had never topped the Spanish sales charts before 2013, in December the Dacia Sandero leads the way for the third time after last January and August thanks to 1,976 sales and 3.3%. A volatile year only sees it rank #10 annually though. Very solid performance of the Seat Leon up 3 spots on last month to #2 at 1,724 units and 2.8% while the Peugeot 308, now clearly boosted by the new model, is up 8 to land on the podium for the 2nd time in the last 4 months with 1,708 sales and 2.8% also.
The Toyota Auris breaks into the Spanish monthly Top 5 for the first time this month.
The Seat Ibiza, leader over the Full Year, is down one rank on last month to #4 at 2.7% whereas the Toyota Auris makes an astounding entrance among Spain’s Top 5 best-seller, up 2 spots to a record-breaking 5th place thanks to 1,594 sales and 2.6%! Leader last month, the Nissan Qashqai is down to #8 but the Dacia Duster is already enjoying the effects of its facelift, up 7 to #14 and 1.7% share vs. #37 and 0.9% over the Full Year. Notice also the Renault Captur up 3 to #22, Ford Kuga up 18 to #26, Peugeot 2008 up 3 to #28 and Honda CR-V up 5 to #36 vs. #66 in 2013.
