Czech Republic September 2013: Skoda Octavia shoots up to 15%

New car sales in the Czech Republic are up a reassuring 6% year-on-year in September to 13,208 registrations, reducing the year-to-date fall to 8% at 120,154 units. For the first time since last November, the Top 4 best-sellers are all Skodas this month, led by a flamboyant Octavia up to 1,940 sales and 14.7% share, its highest since February 2012. The Fabia reclaims the 2nd spot at 785 units and 5.9%, still a shy share but better than the last two months. After two months at #2 the Rapid’s market share is down almost two percentage points on August to 5.3% at 694 sales while the Superb is up 5 spots to #4 at 462 units and 3.5%.
The Hyundai ix20 is the best-selling foreigner for the first time.
This month and for the first time ever, the Hyundai ix20 becomes the best-selling foreigner in Czech Republic, reaching an all-time high 5th place with 409 sales and 3.1% which are also volume and market share records for the model! The ix20 has been discreetly but steadily improving since its first appearance in the Czech ranking back in December 2010. Other great performers this month include the Skoda Yeti up 7 ranks to #8, the Seat Ibiza and Leon at #12 and #13 respectively, Ford B-Max up 6 spots to #17, Toyota Auris up 8 to #25, BMW 5 Series up to #27 vs. #43 year-to-date, Fiat 500L up 47 ranks to #30, BMW 1 Series up 99 spots to #44 and the Mercedes GL-Class up 71 to #56.
