The Israeli new car market is up 5% year-on-year in August to 19,550 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 152,978 units, up 3% on 2012. Israel is the second country in the world after Turkey (where it is produced) to see the full effects of the new generation Toyota Corolla coming into market: it is up 5 spots on July to lodge a spectacular 1,969 sales and 10.1% share this month, meaning it is now #7 year-to-date after ranking #2 in 2012… The Kia Picanto delivers another excellent month at 1,231 units and 6.3% and is now #2 year-to-date at 6,785 sales and 4.4% below the Ford Focus at 7,345 units and 4.8% but down to #14 this month. The Renault Fluence brilliantly rounds up the podium thanks to 684 sales and 3.5%.

There are 4 Hyundais in the Top 8 in August like in the year-to-date ranking: the i30 (#4), i35 (#6), i25 (#7) and i20 (#8). The Skoda Rapid remains inside the Top 10 for the 2nd month running at #10, the Mazda CX-5 is up 8 spots to #11, the Suzuki SX4 up 6 to #15 and the Subaru Impreza up a further 7 to #21 vs. #56 year-to-date and #179 in 2012. Finally, notice the Seat Toledo, struggling everywhere else in the world, up 41 ranks to #57, making Israel one of the last countries in the world to still love sedans.
