Ireland May 2013: Nissan Qashqai #1, two Dacias in Top 50

Tough month for new car sales in Ireland, down 23% year-on-year to 5,956 registrations which brings the year-to-date total to 51,567 units, down 14% on 2012. For the third time ever after March 2012 and last February, the Nissan Qashqai is the most popular vehicle in Ireland thanks to 220 sales and 3.7%, however the VW Golf, down to #2 and 3.4% this month, remains the top seller so far in 2013 at 2,559 units and 5% vs. 2,366 and 4.6% for the Qashqai at #2. The Toyota Auris jumps into the podium at #3 with 190 sales and 3.2%, followed by the Ford Focus, Fiesta and Toyota Yaris.
Other great performers in Ireland this month include the Nissan Micra back up 25 spots to #8, the Hyundai i30 up 31 to #10, the Ford Mondeo up 14 to #11, Toyota RAV4 up a further two ranks to #19, Mercedes C-Class up to #23 and Citroen C1 up to #39. Update on newly launched brand Dacia: it is now the #14 brand in the country ahead of Peugeot, Mazda, Citroen and Honda! If the Duster is down 12 spots on last month to a still impressive 24th place with 77 sales and 1.3%, the Dacia Sandero breaks into the Irish monthly Top 50 for the very first time, up to #48 at 36 units and 0.6%.
