China March 2013: VW Lavida and Ford Focus in command

In March the VW Lavida manages to top the Chinese models ranking for the third consecutive month thanks to 38,334 sales, up a massive 89% year-on-year, with the Ford Focus following close behind at 37,814 units, up a mammoth 148% on March 2012. The Buick Excelle is back up 6 spots on February to #3 with 29,875 sales, ahead of the Chevrolet Sail at 26,303 and the VW Sagitar at 24,942.

If last month there were no less than 6 Volkswagens in the Top 8, in March the German carmaker is only slighly less impressive but still manages to place an incredible 6 models in the Top 10… Japanese models are seemingly getting over their traumatic period in China, with the Nissan Sylphy back up 9 spots to #8 with 19,637 units (up 66% year-on-year), the Toyota Camry up 25 ranks on last month to #11 with 17,170 sales and the Toyota Corolla up 21 spots to #17 at 15,857 units.

Great Wall Haval H6

The Great Wall Haval H6 becomes the best-selling Chinese model at home this month, up 7 ranks to a best-ever #13 with a record 16,801 sales. It is followed by the Emgrand EC7 down 5 spots to #21, the Great Wall Voleex C30 up 4 to #22, the FAW Xiali N3/N5/N7 up 5 to #27, the Chery QQ down 9 to #28 and the BYD F3 Surui down 9 to #30.

Other great performers this month include the DongFeng Future up a further two ranks to a best-ever #33, the BYD L3 up 19 to #34, the Honda City up 22 to #36, Great Wall Haval M4 up 10 to a record #39 and the Ford Kuga breaking into the Chinese Top 50 for the very first time and only at its 2nd month in market at #48.

JAC Refine S5

As far as newcomers are concerned, this month we welcome the JAC Refine S5 in the ranking at #105 with 4,263 sales, the Haima M3 at #158 with 2,017 units, the Ford Ecosport at #163 with 1,810 sales and the Hawtai Lusheng E70 at #261 and 78 units. Notice also the Cadillac XTS up 83 ranks to #159 and the ChangAn Ouliwei up 73 to #198.
