Romanian new car sales are taking a catastrophic turn this month, down 45% year-on-year to just 5,698 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 61,608 units, down 17% on 2011. November marks the first month of sales of the new generation Dacia Logan, and the data doesn’t show this yet given the model is at an ordinary 16.6% market share and 947 sales, roughly the same level as its 2012 year-to-date share. Perhaps the next few months will be more fruitful. Meanwhile, the Top 4 best-sellers reorganise themselves to reflect the YTD order, with the Skoda Octavia at #2 (5.6%) followed by the Dacia Duster (4.6%) and the VW Golf (3.7%).
The Hyundai i20 is down 3 spots to #11 but stays way above its YTD level (#18) as does the Hyundai ix35 up 12 ranks to #13 vs. #20 YTD, the Renault Clio up 18 to #14 vs. #25 and the Seat Ibiza up 52 to #21 vs. #52. Further down, notice the Dacia Lodgy stable at #24, the Mitsubishi Outlander boosted by the new generation and up 40 spots to #26, the Ford B-Max breaking into the Top 50 for the first time at #32 with 44 sales and the Dacia Dokker dropping out of it for its 2nd month in market at #56.
There is now also a Top 30 brands ranking available for Romania, showing Dacia logically in the lead but with sales down a worrying 57% year-on-year in November at 1,380 units and 24.2% share, Volkswagen #2 at 11.6% followed by Skoda at 8.9%, Renault at 6.7% and Ford at 6.5%. The only Top 30 brands gaining ground this month are Mercedes up 14%, Kia up 12%, Land Rover up 28%, Honda up 4%, Subaru up 33%, Jaguar up a spectacular 200% and Jeep & Lexus both up 100%.
