Czech Republic September 2012: 4 Skodas in Top 4, Superb #3

The new car market in Czech Republic is down 4% year-on-year in September to 12,475 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still up by 3% at 131,059 units. For the 4th time in the last 12 months after October 2011, January 2012 and July 2012 the Top 4 best-sellers are 100% Skoda. The Octavia and Fabia both improve their market share vs. August to 12.9% and 7.2% respectively but are still slightly below their 2012 year-to-date levels standing at 13.5% and 7.9%. The Superb is up a superb 8 spots on last month to #3 with 461 sales and 3.1%, its second-best performance in the last 18 months below the #3 and 3.3% it reached last May.
The Roomster has another very solid month at #4 with 382 sales and 3.1%, potentially its first time above 3% in 4 years. It is now #5 year-to-date vs. #13 in 2011. The Ford Fiesta stays #5 but becomes the best-selling foreign model in Czech Republic for the 2nd time in the last 3 months thanks to 372 units and 3%, its best result so far in 2012. The Hyundai i30 is down to #6 but improves its share to 2.8%. It is followed by the Skoda Yeti (+5) and Kia Cee’d (-1).
Other great performers this month in Czech Republic include the Skoda Citigo at #12 with 211 sales and 1.7%, the Kia Venga up 25 spots to #24, the Peugeot 208 up 4 to #34, the Nissan Juke up to #35 vs. #51 year-to-date, the Audi A3 up 32 ranks to #45, the Dacia Lodgy breaking into the Top 50 for the first time at #46, the Ford B-Max landing directly at #61 with 41 units for its first month of sales, the Mercedes A-Class up 72 spots to #64 and the Citroen C4 Aircross up to #126. Note the Skoda Rapid, whose widespread sales have not started yet, ranks #63 with 32 units.
