After going through a Top 150 models ranking worldwide for July 2012, let’s have a closer look at the year-to-date ranking to track down longer-term trends. The Top 2 models are unchanged vs. 2011: the Toyota Corolla leads the way with an estimated 690,216 sales followed by the Ford Focus at 575,281 units. Helped by the new generation, the Toyota Camry jumps an impressive 8 spots on 2011 onto the podium with 458,080 sales but only 30,000 units separate the #3 from the #10 so these rankings will almost certainly change by the end of the year. The VW Golf is down from #3 in 2011 to #4 over the period at 454,041 units, and the upcoming 7th generation could help bring it back onto the worldwide podium by year-end.
