Philippines July 2012: Hyundai Eon up to #15

Thanks to myk, it looks like Philippines will now have a monthly update on BSCB! In July, new car sales are up a massive 25% year-on-year to 16,721 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 105,394 registrations, up 10% on 2011. The Toyota Vios reinforces its leadership over the models ranking with 1,751 sales and 10.5% market share this month, well ahead of its 2012 year-to-date level at 9%. In second place for the 2nd consecutive month, the Mitsubishi Montero Sport improves further to a shiny 7.7% share thanks to 1,289 units sold. It is however still #3 year-to-date at 7.5% vs. 7.6% for the Toyota Innova, down to #4 in August.

The Toyota Fortuner is up one spot to #3 with 1,224 sales and 7.3% vs. 6.4% year-to-date, the Toyota Hilux is up 4 spots to #5 at 640 units and 3.8% vs. #10 and 2.6% year-to-date and the Honda City is up 3 to #6 with at 3.8% also vs. 3.1% year-to-date. Already under the spotlight last month, the Hyundai Eon gets even better in July, up 9 ranks to #15 and more than doubling its market share to 1.7% thanks to 291 sales. It is now #38 year-to-date.

Other great performers this month in the Philippines include the Mitsubishi Lancer EX up 36 spots to #26, the Subaru XV at #37 vs. #54 year-to-date, the Mazda CX-5 at #40 vs. #59, the Lexus RX350 up 31 spots to #55 vs. #82, the Chrysler 300C up to #73 vs. #95 and the Chevrolet Suburban up to #79 vs. #93.
