Thanks to myk we have access to a Filipino monthly models ranking for the first time on BSCB! In June the new car market in the Philippines is up a very healthy 20% year-on-year to 16,609 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 88,673 units, up 8% on 2011.  No surprises in pole position: the Toyota Vios stays on top with 1,438 sales and 7,763 year-to-date for a 8.8% share. The Mitsubishi Montero delivers an excellent month in June and manages to climb into 2nd place with 1,201 units, above the Toyota Innova at 1,122. It stays #3 year-to-date though at 6.9% vs. 7.9%.

Hyundai Eon with some colourful locals

Below the Toyota Fortuner at 973 units, the Hyundai Accent impresses: up to #5 with 607 sales vs. #8 year-to-date. The other great performers this month are either Korean or models that had been handicapped by the Thai floods and are now catching on: the Toyota Hilux is up to #9 (vs. #12 year-to-date), the Hyundai Grand Starex is up to #11 (vs. #21), the Kia Rio at #12 (vs. #20), the Honda CR-V up to #19 (vs. #25) and the Toyota Camry is up to #22 (vs. #37).

Clearly the locals are having heaps of fun with the Eon!

Three newcomers are starting to make their mark in the Philippines: the most successful of them so far is the Hyundai Eon imported from India, up to a brilliant 24th place with 114 sales in June vs. #59 year-to-date. The Mazda CX-5 is up to #35 with 68 units this month (vs. #63) and the Subaru XV is up to #38 with 58 sales vs. #57 in the 2012 year-to-date ranking.

Witnessing a considerable success with the new Accent, Hyundai Motors is offering a plethora of new exterior color choices with the upcoming 2013 Accent including cyclone gray, century white, ultra black, ironman silver etc.

The All-New Ford Focus with new features like active park assist, active stop, and antiblindspot features should help improve its ranking this year. View this short test drive video – it’s cool http://fapa.launchpad6.com/video368

Where’s the Hyundai i10? It’s not on the list, surprisingly, considering the number of units running on Manila’s roads.
