Iceland August 2012: Yaris Hybrid a hit, Nissan Pathfinder in Top10

For once, Iceland is the first cab off the rank this month with August sales figures hot from the press, which means someone at us.is took the trouble of coming to work during the weekend to make the update (thanks to you)!

528 new vehicles found a buyer in the country this month, bringing the year-to-date total to 6,289. The Toyota Yaris continues to impress, especially the hybrid version totalling 23 of the 46 sales of the model this month! The Yaris holds 8.7% of the Icelandic market in August and 6.2% year-to-date thanks to 388 units sold. In fact the entire Top 5 best-sellers in August are identical to the 2012 year-to-date ranking. Handy.

The Skoda Octavia ranks 2nd with 32 sales and 6.1%, followed by the VW Polo at 4.5%, the Toyota Land Cruiser 150 at 2.8% and the Nissan Qashqai at 2.7%. Great performers this month include the Renault Megane at #6 vs. #21 year-to-date, the Kia Picanto at #7 vs. #23, the Nissan Pathfinder in runout mode before the arrival of the new generation at #9 vs. #53, the Renault Kangoo at #13 vs. #43 and the Toyota Hilux at #14 vs. #64.

Notice also two electric cars making their very first appearance in the Icelandic models ranking: the Mitsubishi i-Miev at #28 with 7 sales and the Opel Ampera with 2 units.

    Yaris hibryd start to sell well also in italy 150 pcs sold in july …. Reasonable price mainly for city traffic :)
