Europe: Over 25,000 orders for the Opel Mokka
Could the Mokka reverse Opel’s fortunes in Europe?

While Opel is losing ground in most European countries – except in the UK and Scotland where the Astra is kicking goals, it’s encouraging to note the success of the Opel Mokka even before it hits European dealerships in autumn. Since being made available to order last June, Opel has received 25,000 orders for the Mokka, an outstanding number.
Countries with the most demand are Germany, the UK where it is sold as a Vauxhall, Italy and Russia. The Mokka was unveiled last January at the Detroit Motor show in the US where it will be sold under GM’s luxury brand Buick as the Buick Encore, hoping to carve out a new market niche in the United States: small premium crossover. It was then presented as the Opel Mokka at the Geneva auto show.
In Europe, the new Opel Mokka will compete against cars such as the Nissan Juke, Skoda Yeti and its twin the Chevrolet Trax, and could even steal some sales from the Audi Q3 and Mini Countryman, with the potential to give Opel a much needed sales and image boost.
See Opel’s press release below.

German auto-magazins reported that the Mokka is munufactured in Korea.
The Mokka is definitely not produced in Germany.
From September 2012 on Opel starts selling cars in Australia. The company offers 3 models: The Corsa, Astra and Insignia. Holden will continue as a subsidiary of G.M. but different models.
@LadyBoy
I think that it may be Germany or Poland.
@matgasnier
All cars for the Chinese market (Buick Encore) will be made by Shanghai General Motors Co.
All cars for the rest of the world (Buick Encore/Opel Mokka/Chevrolet Trax/Holden Trax) are made by GM Daewoo in South-Korea.
Many thanks for this Stefan!

Where is the place of manufacturing ??
Hi LadyBoy,
Wikipedia mentions South Korea as the assembly location but I am unsure whether this is valid for all Mokkas/Encore/Trax models.

… Hope So. Opel is a great marque with more than 100 years old and fine reputation.
Opel had a charismatic past with unforgettable cars such as the Manta, 1900 GT, Kadett, Olympia, rekord, Commodore, Ascona and others.
Don’t forget that, apart from the cars you mentioned, in Europe this Opel will also face competition from its twin brother, the Chevrolet Trax.
