Poland July 2012: Opel Astra and Toyota Yaris on podium

The Polish new car market is down 11% year-on-year in July to 23,736 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 192,589 units, still up 4% on 2011. No surprise in pole position: the Skoda Octavia resists with 1,208 sales and 5.1% share but the rest of the podium is completely reshuffled. Potentially due to the imminent arrival of the Skoda Rapid, the Fabia is down 23% year-on-year to #4 with 612 sales and 2.6%, possibly its lowest ever share in Poland!

Honda Civic

This benefits the Opel Astra, up to 2nd place for the first time since September 2011 with 631 units and 2.7% and the Toyota Yaris up to #3 with 613 sales, its 2nd time on the Polish podium so far in 2012 after March. The Nissan Qashqai is down 3 spots to #5 while the Dacia Duster is up 3 to an excellent 6th place, its 2nd best ever in Poland after the 5th position it reached in May.

VW Tiguan

The Peugeot 208 breaks into the Polish Top 10 for the first time, up 13 ranks to #9 with 433 units and 1.8%, the Honda Civic improves again to an outstanding 12th place with 389 sales and 1.6% vs. #28 year-to-date, the Hyundai i30 is up 5 spots to #15, the VW Tiguan breaks into the Polish Top 20 for the first time at #19 and the Kia Venga is up 22 ranks to #24.

Mercedes GLK

Other great performers in Poland this month include the Skoda Citigo breaking into the Top 50 for the first time at #33, up 20 spots on June, the Volvo XC60 up 14 to #44, the VW CC up 17 to #50, the Suzuki Alto up 27 to #60, the Mercedes GLK up 51 to #75 and the Citroen DS4 up 8 to a best-ever #90.
