Better late than never! Finally I can share with you the most popular models across the planet in May. The podium stays unchanged, with all 3 models lodging higher sales figures than last month: the Toyota Corolla is at a brilliant 104,031 units, followed by the Ford Focus getting stronger at 90,985 sales and the VW Jetta improving also at 85,368 units, covering a range of different generations on sale around the world, from the 6th gen on sale in Europe and the US to the 2nd gen on sale in China.
Ford F-Series
Excellent performance of the Toyota Camry, boosted by its score in the US and taking advantage of the new model now on sale pretty much everywhere around the world. It is up one spot on April to 4th place with 72,138 sales and #5 year-to-date vs. #12 in 2011. The VW Golf is up 3 ranks to #5, while the Ford F-Series delivers a very solid month, up 5 spots to #6 and 68,133 units, 54,836 of which sold in the US.
Buick Excelle XT
The Hyundai Elantra is stable at a very strong 7th position (vs. #10 year-to-date), the Toyota Prius is down 5 ranks to #9 but still #3 year-to-date with 377,521 sales (including the Prius c and v), the Honda Civic is up 5 to #15 and the Opel Astra/Buick Excelle XT/GT/Verano breaks into the Top 20 thanks to the success of the sedan version the Buick Verano in the USA and Canada.
