Romania June 2012: Dacia Lodgy makes its first appearance

After starting the year all guns blazing, the Romanian car market is now in negative for the third consecutive month in June at -15% year-on-year to 7,326 registrations. The year-to-date total is still up 5% on 2011 at 33,343 units. The Dacia Logan continues to recover: at 21.5% market share thanks to 1,576 sales it hits its highest level in the country since last November and is now above its Full Year 2011 level (21.3%). The rest of the Top 4 is unchanged on May with the Skoda Octavia at #2 with 5.8% of the market, followed by the Dacia Duster (4.7%) and the Renault Symbol (3.6%).
Other great performers in June in Romania include the Hyundai i20 up 10 spots to #15, the Toyota Aygo up 19 to #16, the Toyota Yaris up 12 to #19, the Renault Clio up 17 to #20, the Suzuki Swift up 15 to #21, the VW Up! up to #35, the Fiat 500 up to #38 and the Peugeot 208 breaking into the Romanian Top 50 for the very first time at #45 with 33 sales. Finally, the 4th Dacia in the line-up, the Lodgy, makes its very first appearance in its ‘native’ country, even though it is produced in Morocco, at #37 with 39 sales and 0.5% market share.
