Norway March 2012: VW Golf reclaims pole position

New car sales are up 1% year-on-year in Norway in March at 13,051 registrations, bringing the 2012 year-to-date total to 34,814 units, up 3% on 2011. After being interrupted last month by the Toyota Avensis, the VW Golf reclaims its traditional Norwegian pole position with 599 sales and 4.6% share. It is the 10th time in the last 12 months the VW Golf leads the models ranking in Norway. It is also #1 year-to-date in 2012 at 1,458 units and 4.2%.

Nissan Leaf

Up to a shiny second place, the Ford Focus is up 3 spots on February with 509 sales and 3.9% and is followed by the Toyota Avensis at 500 units and 3.8%, the Volvo V70 with 439 sales and 3.4% and the VW Tiguan at 377 units and 2.9%. Other great performers in the Top 20 include the Volvo V50 up 9 spots on last month to #11, the BMW X3 up 8 ranks to #16, the Toyota Prius up 37 to #20 and the Nissan Leaf, very impressive again at #17 with 179 sales and 1.4%, adding up to 608 units since the start of the year and confirming Norway as the Leaf’s best market in the world so far.
