The effects of floods in the country on pick-up production capacity have now well and truly passed and the ‘Pick-up hub of the world’ has its factories running at full throttle again, to satisfy planet-wide demand but also local purchases. Thai companies bought 46,205 locally-built pick-ups in February, up 447% on last November, 120% on last December and 8% on January. More significantly, the Thai pick-up market is up a massive 23% on February 2011!

Toyota Hilux

Losing its crown in November to the Mitsubishi Triton and in December to the Isuzu D-Max, the recently facelifted Toyota Hilux has reclaimed its supremacy over the last 2 months, selling 17,584 units in February, up 19% year-on-year. The all-new Isuzu D-Max is not far behind in second place with 16,379 sales this month while the Mitsubishi Triton rounds up the podium at 5,694 units, up an impressive 33% year-on-year.

Chevrolet Colorado

The most impressive progression is without contest delivered by the all-new Chevrolet Colorado at 2,587 sales this month which is up a huge 211% on February 2011. Chevrolet has a target of 85,000 overall sales in Thailand for 2012, triple the 2011 figure (!) and the Colorado will be key in achieving this bold prediction.
