December sales down 12% at 10,937 units bring the total 2011 Vietnamese market down just 1% to 110,938 registrations. Big surprise in pole position this year: after at least 10 years of domination from Toyota and 5 consecutive years at #1 for the Toyota Innova, the Kia Morning comes from nowhere (#5) and snaps up the title of best-selling car in Vietnam with sales up a huge 117% on 2010 at 7,095 units and 6.4% share…

The Toyota Corolla is up one spot and 5% to #2 at 6,338 sales and 5.7%, ahead of the Toyota Innova down 19% to 6,005 units and 5.4%, the Toyota Fortuner down 12% to 5,762 sales and 5.2% and the Toyota Vios down 7% to 5,401 units and 4.9%.

Daewoos became Chevrolets this year and the Chevrolet Spark (ex-Daewoo Matiz Creative) stays 6th but sees its sales go up 22%, the Kia Forte delivers the best progression in the Top 10 at +165% and 8 spots to #7 and 3,495 sales, the Kia Carens is up 18% at #8, the Chevrolet Cruze up 50% to #9 and the Toyota Camry up 6% but down 3 ranks to #10.
There are two all-new models in the Top 20: the Ford Fiesta landing directly at #13 with 1,810 sales and the Toyota Yaris at #18 with 1,031 units. The Nissan Grand Livina breaks into the annual Top 20 for the first time at #20.
In December, the Kia Morning lodges no less than its best market share ever at 9.6% and we welcome a new model in the Top 15: the Chevrolet Orlando at #13 with 186 sales and 1.7% share.
