Romania Full Year 2011: Dacia Logan at its lowest, Duster #3

December car sales are down a worrying 38% in Romania at 7,721 units, bringing the final 2011 total to 81,709 registrations, down 14% on 2010 and 75% on the high of 324,080 units in 2008. In December the Top 4 is unchanged on November, with the Dacia Duster #2 for the 4th time at 7% share, the Ford Focus is up to #5, VW Jetta up to #10, Hyundai ix35 up to #17, BMW X5 up to #23 and VW Touareg up to #26.

Over the full year 2011, the Dacia Logan celebrates 7 consecutive years atop the Romanian models ranking, but with 17,380 sales and 21.3% share it is down 30% on 2010 and lodges by far its weakest year-end volume and market share, to be compared to 96,037 sales in 2007 and 43% share in 2006…

The Skoda Octavia stays #2 and only drops by 5% to 5,313 units, improving its market share to 6.5%. It is followed by the Dacia Duster, up 25% to 4,460 sales and 5.5%. The Duster could climb to #2 in 2012. The Renault Symbol loses 25% and its place on the podium, ahead of the VW Golf up to #5 and the Opel Astra down 40% to #6. Very good year for the Ford Focus up 29% and 5 spots to #7.

BMW X6

Other good performers this year are the VW Jetta up 137% and 15 spots to #6, Hyundai i20 up 42% to #24, Hyundai ix35 up 33% to #25, Nissan Juke up to #31, Fiat 500 up to #34, VW Touareg up to #35 and BMW X5 up to #36. Notice also the huge BMW X6 in the Top 50 at #49 with 331 sales.
