The New Zealand car market is down just one percent at 7,328 registrations in November, bringing the year-to-date total to 78,164 units, up 5%. The Toyota Corolla remains the best-selling vehicle in the country with a robust 439 sales and 6% share.
This month the #2 is not the Hyundai i30 anymore (it is now #4) but the Ford Ranger, possibly helped by the arrival of the new generation in dealerships, selling 264 units for an impressive 3.6% share and therefore leading the commercial category ahead of the Toyota Hilux at #3 overall with 259 sales and 3.5%. The Toyota RAV4 is up to a brilliant 5th place at 3% share, making it 3 Toyotas in the Top 5, while the Holden Commodore, Holden Captiva and Ford Territory are all up 4 spots to #6, 7, and 8 respectively.
Outside the Top 10, notice the Ford Focus up 11 spots on October to #11, the Ford Falcon up 9 ranks to #13, the Toyota Camry back in the Top 25 to #14, the Holden Colorado up 5 spots to #20 and a rare appearance of the Holden Epica in the Top 25 at #24 with 84 sales and 1.1% market share.

Also, this month marked the first full month on sale of the new Ford Focus, a good number of 1.6 models of this new generation have ended up with Avis as well. Other than that and the Epica, all that seems to have arrived on rental fleets en masse this month is the new Yaris and more Corollas.
Hrm that rare appearance of the Epica can be put down to Avis-Budget Group buying up (Well leasing) the last of the run-out models. The Epica placed 11th in September this year with 127 sales, owing to another deal with Hertz. There will now be no Holden midsizer until the Malibu next year.
Thanks very much for the insight Jared!
cheers
