Italy Station Wagons November 2011: Renault Megane #2

For once the Italian Station Wagon (sw) market struggles with 11,332 registrations, down 15% year-on-year vs. a 10% drop for the overall market. The Opel Astra continues to lead with 1,332 sales and a 62% sw penetration, reinforcing its 2011 market leadership at 17,829 units and also 62% sw.
The Renault Megane impresses and takes the 2nd spot this month thanks to 1,116 sales and a robust 63% sw share. It is still #5 year-to-date at 10,567 units. At #3 the Ford Focus improves its sw share to 56% vs. 50% over the first 11 months of the year with 977 sales, ranking #2 in 2011. The VW Passat is down 2 spots on October to #4 but with 947 units it reaches the magical 90% Station Wagon penetration rate, meaning that exactly 9 Passats out 10 sold in Italy last month were Station Wagons!
