Australian new car sales are up 5% in October at 85,196 registrations, bringing the 2011 year-to-date total to 837,324 units, down 3%. The Toyota Corolla is in the top spot for the second month in a row with 3,593 sales and 4.2% and is now up to #4 year-to-date.
Boosted by its facelift, the Toyota Hilux ranks 2nd at 3,480 units and 4.1%, its best volume since March and its best share since May. The big event this month is however the amazing 3rd place of VW Golf at 3,337 sales and 3.9% share, its best-ever volume and share and its very first time on the Australian podium! Previous record was last June at #4, 3,275 sales and 3.4%.
The Mazda3 is 4th at 3.7%, ahead of the Holden Commodore, still #1 year-to-date but down to a paltry 5th place in October at 3,018 units and 3.5% share. This is the Commodore’s weakest position, volume and share in over 20 years! Below, the Holden Cruze is #6 at 3.3%, just ahead of the Hyundai i30 and Toyota Camry.

@Sith
Well Sith I do not understand why the Golf… maybe they do. Where´s the Focus or Holden Astra if this last one is sold there.
…The Corolla also shines and well!!!
VW had free on road cost
VW Golf??
Maybe with a big incentive?
