Italy Station Wagons September 2011: VW Passat on podium

89% of all VW Passats sold in Italy in September are station wagons

The Italian Station Wagon (SW) market is up 4% this month at 13,569 registrations in an overall market down 6%. The Opel Astra keeps the lead with 1,506 but its SW ratio goes down to 64% vs. 74% in August. The Audi A4 stays #2 at 1,415 units and a whopping 87% SW ratio.

Peugeot 308

The VW Passat does even better, up one spot to #3 with 1,370 sales and a 89% SW ratio! It is followed by the Ford Focus at 54%, the Renault Megane at 66%, the Opel Insignia at 85% and the BMW 5 Series at 61%. After a 2 months absence, the Peugeot 308 is back in the Italian SW Top 10 at 529 units and 54% SW ratio compared to 39% year-to-date (#10).

    Thanks a lot for you always kind information fabio! I saked this because I´m fan of the Alfa 159 and I know that actualy the Italians do not have SW´S.

    the Group Fiat had left all the SW segment… no Bravo sw, nothing seg-D like Passat for FIAT (there was Croma, but it was a little different…), there’s just the 159 but Alfa Romeo had prefered to develop the compact car like Mi.To and Giulietta. there’s not interesting in the company to support the sales of 159. it wait to present the future Giulia

    do you wonder the same thing every month?
    you have already been explained that the freemont is not a sw ad that very few 159s are sold

    I wonder where are the Alfa 159 SW and the Fiat freemont, the two only Italian wagons actualy.
