Relative improvement for new car sales in Greece this month: at 9,939 units they are down ‘only’ 14% year-on-year, compared to -33% in June. The year-to-date total stands at 65,200 units, down 41% on 2010. The Opel Corsa continues to reign, #1 in Greece for the 6th month out of 7 this year with 547 sales and 5.5% share, bringing its 2011 figure to 3,767 units and 5.8%.

The Nissan Micra confirm its newly acquired blockbuster status in Greece by ranking 2nd for the third month in a row with 418 sales and 4.2%. It climbs to 5th year-to-date at 3.4%. The best performer this month is the Hyundai i20, up 13 spots to land on the podium at #3, 413 units and 4.2%, ex-aequo with a Toyota Yaris back in shape.

Other great performers this month include the Mercedes A Class at #13 (up 7 spots), the Alfa Romeo Giulietta at #22 (+8) and the Kia Picanto new generation at #26 (+15).

    Greek car market will propably end to 100.000-110.000 cars for 2011. This means 2011 will be the worst year after 1994, in the past 20 years market history.
