South Korea June 2011: Avante back to #1, new Samsung QM5 up

Samsung QM5

After two months of Hyundai Grandeur domination, the smaller Hyundai Avante (aka Elantra) reclaims the South Korean leadership in June with 11,117 sales and 8.7% share, which means it was #1 in the country during 8 of the last 12 months. It is also #1 in 2011 year-to-date with 64,795 sales and 8.6%.

The Hyundai Grandeur is down to #2 but stays very strong at 10,671 units (8.3%) ahead of the Kia Morning at 10,232 sales (8%). The June Top 9 is actually entirely identical to the year-to-date ranking, note the Kia K5 seeing its market share go up again to 5.5%.

Chevrolet Orlando

A couple of new models shine this month: the Chevrolet Orlando breaks into the Top 20 for the first time at #19 with 2,145 sales and 1.7% share and the new generation helps the Samsung QM5 (aka Renault Koleos) go up 7 spots to #28 with 1,007 sales and 0.8%.
